SMC Alerts: The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Red Flag Warning for the western 2/3rds of San Miguel County from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM today, Thursday, May 21, 2026 due to gusty winds, low relative humidity, and dry fuels. This area includes most of the Egnar Fire Protection District, all of the Norwood Fire Protection District, and the West End of Montrose County. Per San Miguel County Ordinance, opening burning is prohibited in areas under a Red Flag Warning. Visit www.weather.gov/gjt for more information.

* AFFECTED AREA... Fire Weather Zone 290 Paradox Valley Forecast Area and Fire Weather Zone 207 Southwest Colorado Lower Forecast Area.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...9 to 16 percent.
