Additional Red Flag Warnings June 8 and 9, 2026

06/08/26, 9:41 AM

SMC Alerts:
The US National Weather Service has issued additional Red Flag Warnings for Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 10pm due to forecasted southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, low relative humidity, and dry fuels. Warnings are in effect for all of San Miguel County and most of the Western Slope. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued for Wednesday.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures are forecast to occur. These conditions create an elevated risk for rapid wildfire growth and spread. Please use extreme caution with any activity that could spark a fire.

Note that outdoor burning is prohibited by County Ordinance in areas under a Red Flag Warning, and privately-owned, unincorporated lands within the Norwood and Egnar Fire Protection Districts are under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. Visit www.weather.gov/gjt for more weather-related information.
