Hwy 145 Closed due to Mudslides July 21, 2026

The highway closure at Placerville has been moved to the intersection with CR M44 (Specie Creek) and traffic to Norwood is being allowed up M44 and over Specie Mesa. At this time, it is open to one-way traffic only for those trying to get from Placerville to Norwood.

4:15PM July 21, 2026
Hwy 145 is currently closed between the intersection with Hwy 62 near Placerville and the top of Norwood Hill (MM 98) due to multiple mudslides throughout San Miguel Canyon. The duration of the closure is unknown, but expect an extended closure due to the amount of debris in the road. State officials (CDOT and CSP) are en route and will determine when it is safe to reopen the roadway. Updates will be provided as soon as they become available on the San Miguel Sheriff's Office Facebook page, as well as at www.cotrip.org/home.
