2025 Colorado Measure for Academic Success (CMAS) Assessment

Dear Southmoor Families,
In April, students across Colorado will participate in the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessments. These end-of-year tests measure student progress toward the Colorado Academic Standards, which outline what students should know and be able to do at each grade level.
At Southmoor:

Students in grades 3-5 will take English Language Arts and Math assessments.

Students in grade 5 will also take the Science assessment.
CMAS results provide valuable insights:
✔ For your child: Individual results show what they have learned and how they are progressing.
✔ For our school: School-wide results highlight strengths and areas for improvement in our instruction.
✔ For families: Community-wide results offer transparency on how well local schools are meeting the needs of all students.
Preparing for CMAS
Please review the enclosed CMAS testing schedule to see when your child will be tested. To ensure a smooth testing experience:

Schedule any appointments or vacations outside of testing days to avoid missed instruction.

Ensure your child arrives on time and is well-rested for their test days.

Students may not use electronic devices during testing and will be asked to turn them off and store them with their teacher to maintain a standardized testing environment.
Opting Out of Testing
While we encourage full participation in CMAS, we understand that some families may choose to excuse their child from testing. If you plan to do so, please submit your opt-out request through the Parent Portal by February 28, 2025, to allow for appropriate planning. (Scroll down for opt-out instructions.)
