Letter from the Principal

Kindergarten Class | Mrs. Mayra Bustamante

Good Morning, Kindergarten parents in Ms. Mayra Bustamante’s class!

I hope that all of you are having a nice start to the week! I wanted to share some information with all of you in regards to some staffing shifts in your child’s classroom. Ms. Mayra Bustamante is no longer an employee at SOAR, so we will be looking to hire a new person to be your child’s teacher. I want you to be assured that at SOAR we have a process to ensure that learning is still happening and that all students are supported during the transition.

A few things to note:

  • The position is posted so we will start interviewing qualified candidates for the Kindergarten position soon.
  • Ms. Dannia (Instructional Assistant) is still in class every day to support students in class alongside the guest teacher and SOAR staff who are supporting with academics, behavior and social emotional learning.
  • Our math and literacy instructional coaches are supporting with learning during these blocks.
  • Our counselor, social worker, and school psychologist are dropping in to support individual and groups of students as needed with SOAR habits.
  • The principal, assistant principal and Restorative Practices Coordinator is supporting individual and groups of students as needed with SOAR habits.
  • We have guest teachers that have committed to teaching for multiple days each week as we hire your child’s teacher. This will help with consistency in the classroom as we transition.
  • We have not shared this information with students. We will have a community circle tomorrow to share with students. I wanted parents to know first.

Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks! Have a nice day!
