Dear Evie Dennis Campus families, 

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. This afternoon, the DPS Department of Climate and Safety placed our school into a secure perimeter due to a shooting reported near our school. Several other schools in the area were placed into a secure perimeter during this time.

At no time were any of our students or staff in imminent danger.

A secure perimeter takes place when a threat has been identified outside of our school. All exterior doors are locked to prevent any hazards or threats from entering the school. No entry or exit to the school is allowed during this response, but activity inside the school continues as normal.

I want to thank our staff and everyone from the Department of Climate and Safety for their quick response, and the timely action of the Denver Police Department for their work in securing the neighborhood in order to ensure community safety and begin the controlled release. I want to thank all families for their patience and cooperation during this time to ensure students and families were safely reunited for the end of the school day.
