Dear Parent/Guardian,

Beginning on January 8th, Multilingual Learners (MLLs) in grades K-5 will participate in the ACCESS for ELLs state assessment.  This assessment measures a student’s English language skills in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.  ACCESS result are used by classroom teachers to determine the level of language support that a student may need during instruction.  With this information, we are able to monitor student progress on an annual basis and determine when a student is ready to be placed in mainstream instruction.  

SOAR classroom teachers and staff will be administering group testing on the following dates:

1st grade: 1/10, 1/11, & 1/19

2nd grade: 1/9, 1/11, & 1/18

3rd grade: 1/10, 1/12, & 1/19

4th grade: 1/9, 1/11, & 1/18

5th grade: 1/10, 1/12, & 1/19

Students in kindergarten will be tested in a 1-on-1 setting and students testing in a small group will be assessed from January 8th - February 8th.

We ask parents and families to ensure that their children get plenty of sleep,  eat a healthy breakfast and be on time every day, but especially on assessment days.
